In 2020, the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften has again open its doors to the public and invites guests to the ”Salon Sophie Charlotte” with the year’s theme on ”Worldviews”. The ten members of Die Junge Akademie who were admitted in summer 2019 took part in the Salon with their own campaign on the topic.Worldviews are not only spatial and temporal and limited, they are also influenced by social circumstances. Science is not exempted from this: Despite the ideal of objectivity, researchers’ thoughts and actions are influenced by certain views of the world—scientific, but also non-scientific. The ten new members of Die Junge Akademie focus on scientific worldviews—and thus also on the worldviews of scientists.
A series of posters were presented as a way-finding system, informative and vibrant graphic identity to communicate worldviews and the in-between, playing with the visibility in visual and haptic technology. Additionally, a flyer in form of a fanfold is devised as a complimentary medium to the holographic work exhibited by one of the members. By placing a lens with overlapping transparent object, the message is made visible, in such to communicate the (un)seen. Accompanying the marketing collateral was the digital adaptation in form of an animation.
Bold design coupled with haptic technology and effective information design helped to arouse and invite the attendees into the event’s atmosphere and reinforce their active role as a representative agent.
